Bible in 90 days -- day 3

How are you doing guys? Are you doing the whole Bible? I decided to give it a shot!

Day 2: learning about not putting ourselves before God (see devotion already posted today as well).

Day 3: I am struck by this incredible promise God makes to Jacob in his ladder dream: "I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.”

and then Jacob is all excited, talking about how "this is God's place" and names the location Bethel (God's House) and his next line is:

"Then Jacob made this vow: “If God will indeed be with me and protect me on this journey, and if he will provide me with food and clothing, 21 and if I return safely to my father’s home, then the Lord will certainly be my God. 22 And this memorial pillar I have set up will become a place for worshiping God, and I will present to God a tenth of everything he gives me.”
Jacob has this wonderful vision and God gives him this amazing promise. I'm sure he knows about his lineage and how Sarah had Isaac at such an old age etc. and he still places conditions upon this being his God. Oh... I wonder how often I do that without even really realizing it.
